Carnival of Cordite #74

Welcome back and/or to the 74th edition of the Carnival of Cordite.  Last week we featured a "best of edition" for a really great carnival.  This week we are getting more of the same as Chublogga checks in with a couple new posts and some of his "best of"!

Our most appropriate post to lead off this weeks COC though is Michael Bane's Eulogy, "A Few Thoughts on the Passing of Jeff Cooper".

I would also like to take a second to celebrate finally figuring out some quick time code so hopefully our Firefox browsers don't have to check in with Microsquish IE, to check out my audio addictions.  How about some Pro-Gun Molly Hatchet while you browse over the front page of the carnival before diving in?

Chublogga starts us off by "paddling" certain CA police departments, with "Whereupon Cars Double n Price in California".  Next is a really neat "Can I Carry" calculator Chu has created to assess Concealed Carry Laws in different states.

Next is Chu's four top picks of his bestest all time posts, and he didn't list this one first but I am, because "Happiness is an Automatic Firearm".  Then he say's "Hey Lib's why do you "Chu" on these two posts, "Firearm Myths, pt 1, and Firearm Myths, pt 2".  Well, it's Sunday, have you checked your "Church Defense Doctrine"?

That totally reminds me of O'Brother Were Art Thou, with the Bank Scene where "Babby Face Nelson" is robbing the bank and he says, "And remember folks, Jesus Saves, but George Nelson withdraws"!  (JC, is probably gonna talk to him about that one).  But I digress, we also have your "Smith & Wesson Revolver Guide", and another of his latest posts "Blackwell vs. Strickland on the 2nd Amendment".

417908-479998-thumbnail.jpg(Protect Your Nuts!)

Iron's in the Fire has a couple "gun smithing" tips for us "Crowning", and "Mosin Nagant Chargers".  He didn't submit this one, but I feel compelled to make sure everyone of you know that "The Squirrels are Revolting"!

Pete Drum submits and I excerpt:

Last Summer, when I saw gun-banners calling "Stand your ground" laws, "Shoot the Avon Lady" laws, I started a tally of shot Avon Ladies at my compendium of each State's "2nd Amendment".  Still no shot Avon Ladies.

Plus, from the Clayton Cramer Blog, "Woman Defends Herself from Attack with Gun".

A Report on the Tennesee Senate Race has Say Uncle keeping them honest and taking em to the woodshed with "Part err, alot", and the "flogging continues until the truth can be told", with "The Lies They Tell".  Also, Uncle would like to point out this blog, Gunshowonthenet and post, "Not an Individual Right, eh?"  I like this guy, check out his post on Patrick Henry (Most famous for his Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death Speech).  Good Spot Uncle!  Who also says, Check out GunBlogs for Gunny-Goodness!

Our Good friend CounterTopChronicles, has been working for Da Man, but finds the time to give us these three great posts starting with, "I Blame the Bigots", and (CTC calls for "corporal punishment of the NEA), I excerpt:

Just ask yourself, what would have happened if all the teachers in the school were not only concealed carry permit holders, but required to carry a gun in the classroom.

and still on a roll, we have "The Peoples Republic of New Jersey - West", and this interesting letter to the NYT editor, "Roger Clegg Rocks".  Man was CTC fired up this week!

Can you imagine, Combs Spouts off, again with "Safer Schools", and excerpt:

Years ago, the Israelis had a problem with Paleostinian gunmen attacking schoolchildren. They armed the teachers and staff, and the attacks on schools stopped. In fact, the Paleostinians largely gave up attacking civilians with small arms when it became standard practice for the intended victims to shoot back.

417908-367923-thumbnail.jpg(That's Cold, Hard Cash!)

Oh, Yeah, Heartless Libertarian tells us about "My Kind of Fundraiser"", and he invites you to check out "Shooting For Victory", where they are serving up BBQ and some Cordite! (requires Adobe).

The Revolutionary Veterans Association says, we have some upcoming Appleseed Riflery Clinics, check it out "Next Stop Yakima, Washington", and "Mingus Texas hosts October 28-29th".  More with there overall calender found at this post.

Ah, Shoot, offers us up a interesting series of posts on his purchase of a 1903 Springfield Mark I rifle he purchased from the CMP at the Big Reno Gun Show.  Check them out, herehere, "I'm Naked, and "Verdict, Marginal".

He also has a pretty dead on view of the Gun Shows, except the one I went to this week-end didn't have any Velvet Elvis!!! (Darn it All).  Some Virginia shows have a lot of jewelry and such, but I notice a lot more women come to those shows, over the show promoters, who refuse to allow anything but guns, ammo and accessories.  These promoters also frown up tee shirt sales, even purely political ones like that I sell.

417908-480065-thumbnail.jpg(Welcome To the Gun Show Baby!)

I consistently tell them, " Hey A$$hole, you charge $6 -$8 to get in the door, why are you limiting what they can buy, and or just look at?  Give all gun dealers and such first dibs on tables, but after that let in the merchants who wouldn't be there unless they know they are bringing something that people would buy, and attract women, they attract men. (off my soap box)

More, Ah Shoot with "Unsavory Character Claims He's Fighting for the 2A", and   "Duquesne Shootings and Gun Rights".

Next up we have the Kallini Brothers, would say "Let Me Put This Bluntly".

Finally, into the "Rodney Dangerfield slot" we have your host STD, with "Size Matters? 30-06 vs. 16" Naval Gun".
