Will Webb Seek to Ban Assault Rifles?

417908-392852-thumbnail.jpg(Click to see a Girl & Her Rifle *) Attention Libs, You may buy assault rifles from the US Government!!! (hooaaahhh!!!)   Yes, this is true, (takes a second or two to load), and I have signed up because I need another M-1 Garand Assault Rifle (complete with Bayonet Lug).  Added Bonus, you can even ask their experts how to improve your accuracy with  these "Assault Rifles", out to 600 Yards and beyond, check out this link.

God, I love America.... check this out:

The CMP was created by the U.S. Congress. The original purpose was to provide civilians an opportunity to learn and practice marksmanship skills so they would be skilled marksmen if later called on to serve the U.S. military. Over the years the emphasis of the program shifted to focus on youth development through marksmanship. From 1916 until 1996 the CMP was administered by the U.S. Army. The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1996 (TITLE XVI) created the Corporation for the Promotion of Rifle Practice & Firearms Safety, Inc. (CPRPFS) to take over administration and promotion of the CMP. The CPRPFS is a tax exempt not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that derives its mission from public law.

Here is the main page, if you are still in disbelief of the Liberty....

Now, let's take a moment to reflect upon who was in control of Congress in 1996, and would approve such a program as the CMP?? Republicans... maybe.  Now, reflect upon the pressure that Liberals would put upon a one Mr. James Webb should be become our Senator in 06' to do away with such programs as this? I have done a search to see if our former Senator Chuck Robb voted for this legislation, and he did.  (The CMP component was inside a larger appropriation bill of course.)

Now, let's take a look at what the Premiere James Webb for Senate site RK, has to say on the Subject:

Banning Assault Rifles in Virginia???

I think its time that we Virginians be serious about gun control.  Its a word a lot of democrats here in the Old Dominion don't like to discuss because they are afraid of alienating rural voters.  But I'm sorry. After watching the news and seeing in my backyard that a police officer who is paid to protect me (not literally but figuratively) was gunned down by a mentally unstable guy with TWO AK-47 Assault Rifles.  I'm sick of the posturing.  I want a ban on assault rifles in the state of Virginia.  And I think there are many who agree with me.

It seems to me, that I read that RK  practically recruited and secured the Dem Primary for James Webb, and is it a "leap of faith" to imagine what pressure he will be under to start moving in the direction of say Chuck Robb on this issue if elected?

Perhaps you're not familiar with how the site operates -- it's a bit unusual. That's a "diary" -- anybody can create an account on the site and create a diary entry. It doesn't necessarily reflect the opinions of anybody at Raising Kaine any more than, say, this blog entry reflects my opinion for appearing on Virginia Political Blogs. Or, to provide a more immediate example, any more than this comment reflects your views, despite that it's appearing on your blog.

Waldo:
Just a quick look at a few pages of RK reveals posts by Lowell, Teddy, phriendlyjaime?, Kathy Gerber, DanG,Corey, Brian, teacherken, Eric, Jambon, Rob, Dan, David M, Todd Smyth, etc, etc.

Uhhh..there seems to be a "whole lot of opinions" at RK, and I am taking this guy/gal's doctormatt06' as one, and I stand behind my post.

James Webb is going to get a lot of "heat" to move in the direction of Chuck Robb on the dreaded "assault rifle" (with bayonet lug, gasp)

How many actual posters are there on RK? This would have been an interesting topic at the Summit. Style and form of blogs..

Also, I admit that I interact cautiously with RK because they require registration (big guv. at work) and give you a cookie (why, and what for).

On STD, I am able to trace back using your URL (believe me, I am busy posting, and could careless who you are, unless there is some kind of security issue or something)... RK really strikes me as like the biggest "partisan castle" in the VA Blogosphere....

The guy doesn't know beans about rifles. He thinks high powered rifles should be banned as well. Hell, I couldn't imagine taking out a bull elk with anything less than my 30-06. I have a scope on it, add a stand, and I have a dreaded evil sniper rifle. Give me a break. The guy needs to read up on guns and the Federalist Papers.

Do you mean he supports a ban on 50 cal.s? I have not seen any particular positions Webb has taken on any particular gun control...
