Spank That Donkey

 It would seem that the newly formed PAC Crime Victims United Virginia  is losing membership in a curious and dramatic way.  According to this Hook Article, dated just Oct. 29th 2007, their board consisted of:

Crime Victims United of Virginia members include downtown businesswoman Joan Fenton (right), who served as chair of the Charlottesville Board of Architectural Review and was a City Council candidate in 2002; former Albemarle police officer Karl Mansoor (left), who sued the county in 2000, claiming his free speech rights had been violated when he was ordered to stop criticizing the county; Tim Heaphy, a former federal prosecutor; Roger Mathias, a retired Albemarle cop; and Liz Seccuro, victim of a 1984 rape in a UVA fraternity that became known nationally as the “12-step rape” when her assailant, William Beebe, sent her an apology in 2005.  (my high lighting, not the Hooks) 

 It would seem that Tim Heaphy and Liz Seccuro, no longer wish to be associated with CUVU, which can be verified by a visit to the CUVU About Us link.  Previously, their photos and bios were on this page.

The new attack video on CUVU's web site, aptly named Aim_Low (as in the political mud) may very well be one of the reasons for the resignations.  In this video it shows a Mr. Dean describing how he was thrown into jail.  I guess it would cost too much in air time to further explain that Mr. Dean was arrested on trespassing charges for attempting to gain access to Mr. Jim Camblos property after repeatedly threatening Mr. Camblos and his family.

Mr. Camblos later dropped the charge after Mr. Dean agreed to leave Mr. Camblos and his family alone.

I can clearly see why the disclaimer at the end of the video says the ad was paid for and authorized by CUVU, and it is not authorized by any candidate, namely Denise Lunsford, who is endorsed by CUVU and against Mr. Camblos.

Further background on this video is that Mr. Dean's wife & two grand daughters were tragically killed in a car wreck by a young lady who left her lane of traffic due to a large bee in her automobile.  Police investigating the accident did not recommend charges; and Mr. Camblos decided it would be further insult to charge her with 'Failure to Maintain Control', as that was a $25 fine.  He thought charging her with this would be harder on the family than not charging her at all.  Unfortunately later, Mr. Dean began to threaten Mr. Camblos & his family.

As for the Video 'coming soon' also on the CVUV web site featuring a photo of Gov. Mark Warner... I wonder if there just may be another disassociation with this weeks old PAC by the former Governor?

Just as an a side, exactly how many PACS include Waldo's Political Blogroll, (cleverly named Virginia's Political Blogroll),  in their sidebar, and exactly why would they?
