Callahan & Chichester Owe Gilmore For Their Majorities, Period

417908-477952-thumbnail.jpg(I Dare Ya!)

I just read TC's post dismissing Callahan and Chichester, and he's right... Top GOP Leaders should be sticking with their candidate for the sake of the Party, or at least the Majority status they held in the past.

Back in the old days when Republicans worshiped the ground Governor Allen walked on; the GOP ran on the principles of Limited Government, and lower taxation.  Free the entrepreneurs, get rid of regulation, punish the criminals, and get people off welfare and back to work.

Tell me this isn't the God's Honest Truth?

Governor Gilmore followed that up with a brilliant strategy of using excess state income tax dollars from companies like Motorola and AOL coming into Virginia, by using that excess to eliminate the car tax.  The people loved it, and put Chichester and Callahan in Business.

Well, low and behold the stock market busts, and 9-11 hits, so we have a recession.  So what, Gilmore and the GOP steered $1 billion into the rainy day fund for just such an economic downturn.  Warner and the General Assembly still spent more in 2002, than 2001, spent more in 2003, than 2002.  We still held our majorities, and so what if the Democrats belly-ached for more spending... What's new?

Then Chichester and Company decide we need new taxes, because we need to spend, well, like Democrats... But that wasn't even enough in 2004?  No  sir!  They take the House into overtimes in 2005 and 2006 to do what?  Raise Taxes!  Say hello to the minority smarty pants.....

DJ was dead on pointing out that spending still increased another $9 Billion dollars during the Warner administration, and oh Dear God, they had to send $950 Million back to the people?  That represented only 70% of the car tax reduction at that time.  Simple math, says a full phase out was what, $1.3 or $1.4 billion, while still getting to spend another $7.5 to $8 billion dollars?

I call Moron!  The Democrats tricked you Chichester and Company.... You gave up on the Allen - Gilmore Revolution in ideas, and you couldn't even figure out that philosophy is what put you in power in the first place.  You deserve retirement, you deserve ridicule.... especially when you blame the guy, who led you to power?

That's what ticks me off about this whole thing... They follow Warner, give him his Democrat Hero status of raising taxes in a Conservative state, and really Warner was just screwing you out of your majority and your power!  Then they endorse him?

Tell me that isn't the God's Honest Truth of what really happened.... Come on tell me.... I'll be your huckleberry.

I think God is fair to all, only humans are responsible for their crises.

It amazes me.

People want more services, they want pay raises; prices for housing, electricity, oil and food goes up. Why don't you expect your taxes also to increase? Infrastructures need constant maintenance. Where's your logic, folks?

Callahan and Chichester know a smart man when they see one. I, for one, don't feel that Gilmore has a lot of smarts.

Ottie:
With the exception of Warner's tax increase, and a myriad of fee increases like car tags going up $10 every time you turn around, the real increases to the budget have been from the current tax base and the power of the economy.

Doubling the entire Commonwealth's budget in 10 years? Has your income double in 10 years? The govt, is bloated and inefficient... go to dmv today and see for yourself.

The problem is we tend to spend more when the times are good and expect that the growth in income will continue.

Unfortunately many have been convinced that we are in a "Recession" and it's doom&gloom time just before another election. The fact is that the economy has slowed down but has not "Receeded" as many claim and want you to believe. Those who paid off bills, credit cards, house payments, and saved\invested money are fine. It's the ones like the VA Govt who spent counting on more growth at the same rate that are in trouble. Now they want to tax to get out of the hole they dug with the $800 I-Phone they bought...

Absolutely Rightside!

Chichester's last gift to VA was crafting a budget with a 6% increase in spending, and slowing economy could only deliver 3%.

Now that my friend, is an actual deficit created!

They see the writing on the wall. Hell, even Sen. John Ensign more or less admitted that Gilmore doesn't really have a shot at winning. Chichester and Callahan are just stating the obvious: Jim Gilmore is a loser.

Hey Ghost:
Snide remarks all you have in your little bag of tricks?

I take the time to articulate a post about a couple sell outs, and that is all you can burp up?

Please entertain me with some of your gospel?

Who cares if you consider them sell outs? Just like two years ago, we're going to win the Senate race, and you're going to lose. At least last time you had a chance. This time, you'll have to catch Warner with a dead girl or a live boy.

Your opinion of Republicans who jumped ship because of your downright awful candidate only serves as entertainment to those of us enjoying your party's epic collapse. I mean...Jim Gilmore? Couldn't you guys at least have put up a fight?

Dead Girl or Live BOy... thaT'S sO wALDO...
